  • That's true, 250 AA miles after 8/15. What's also going to happen on that date is a complete overhaul of the award nights structure. Instead of the current 6000 points/night for all but Clarion hotels, which require 7000 points per night, there will be a tiered system with awards from 6000 to 16000 points per night. This is too bad, as we were planning to use 36000 points for a 6 nights stay on Maui in November. I'm sure that won't be possible now.

    This change, combined with the short time allowed for booking award nights (no more than 30 days ahead) and the lower quality of many properties, makes this program much less appealing now. I guess we'll take those 250 AA miles for those few stays we'll have with them (they're still better than BW). I called CS to find out about the new award structure, and I was told that it'll be available by mid-August. Ha!
