• Hi All,

Over the past 4 years I have been living in NZ and flying what I believe to be the friendliest and best airline in the world (irrespective of if your seat is 2A, 8A or 61A).

I will be leaving NZ on the 19th to fly to a new position in Copenhagen and so will not be as avid contributer here as I have been in the past.

I would like to say thank you to all the people who I have chatted with while here and to those who have offered advice, tips and even those who spotted a small change in one of the lounges etc.

I would also like to say a special thankyou to AirNZBoy for all the assistance he has provided online and also behind the scenes.

Not to mention Brent McConchie who as some of you will know manages the Airpoints and Koru Club scheme. Great to have someone who magaes the scheme who actually repsonds to emails with efficiency and humour.

And of course thank you to all the people who work for NZ from the flight attendants, the checkin staff, the ground staff who have ensured that in over 600,000kms with NZ over the past 4 years I have never had a bag lost, broken or contents damaged in any way! In each and every way NZ has made then feel like my friends.

Of course I will fly NZ in the future, and will remain in the NZ scheme but just thought I would write say goodbye and why I probably will not be posting as much as I have in the past 2-3 years.

My only hope as a NZ*E, Koru Life member and shareholder is that NZ survives and does not become an offshoot of the large QF empire. That would be sad..............

So on Monday night as I relax back in aisle 7 on NZ2 (unless NZ op upgrade us to 1st http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ) I will remember fondly all of my flights with NZ. The first airline that really made flying fun and relaxing! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Thank you for your reasoned and wise contributions over the years, they were much appreciated.
Enjoy Copenhagen, my son has recently returned from a year at University there and he loved it.

  • Bon voyage, Koru Flyer, and thanks for all the wisdom and advice you've shared here. I hope you'll still take time out from the SAS board to swing by from time to time - you're our elder statesman! Good luck for those op-ups on NZ2... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I couldn't agree with you more that NZ deserves more than to be an offshoot of QF, and also to thank http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starsmilie.gif airnzboy http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starsmilie.gif for all his help and his inside perspective.

Do we have any rumours or ANY information about this as of yet. Are they going to fix up the star award chart to bring it more into line with the other redemption rates?

  • Hi Mark

Thanks for all the great tips and advice, hope you enjoy Copenhagen and find lots of reasons to keep flying and posting! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

    Cheers, Zac

  • Mark!! We'll miss you.. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif You're a wealth of wisdom, especially on our premium classes, which I have little knowledge of on my pittance of a salary http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Seriously, best wishes. Hope we'll see you onboard at least ocasionally on visits, sabbaticals, etc. Maybe we'll have a sleeper seat to welcome you by then http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Checked your pnr, and 7JK are locked in. Looks like our flagship, the first NZ 744, ZKNBS is scheduled to operate. Enjoy!!!

    Regards and farewell!

  • koru flyer, sorry to see you go.

Thanks for all the tips etc in this forum - and I'm sure you'll still have much much more to contribute!

  • No not really http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif and that is assuming that it is not delayed. Also I was going to book a Airpoints ticket today so I guess I will just have to take the program.

  • Great post Koru Flyer, and thank you for all your posts over the years in the NZ Forum.

  • You should all find out about the new Airpoints scheme on Monday.

    There's a lot that's changed.

  • Thankyou you for your kind words. Of course I will pop by every now and then, just wont be sitting on an NZ plane every 1-2 weeks. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Of interest to me will be (1) the new AP system to be released in the next month or so, (2) NZ Express, will it work?, (3) Fleet upgrades and especially configurations of the new airbuses next year and (4) can NZ keep the evil empire at bay?

I look forward to reading people's posts with interest and of course my 1-2 flights back to Australia and NZ with my favourite airline.

AirNZboy, you should know that with NZ*E it is not the salary that determines where you sit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Are you not capable of waiting until TOMORROW when the changes will be announced? [Look two messages back from your post]

  • I'd like to echo the sentiments, and wish you all the best in CPH!

    Best Regards

    Bradley
