• I am looking for some clarification on the 4 day and 7 day windows. Is that 96 hours and 168 hours before flight time or does the day start just after midnight?

    I am holding an "H" class ticket on the January 13th 12:15 YYZ to YVR flight that right now is showing J9 C9. Can I call in 30 minutes or must I wait till morning?


  • Some time ago, I had sent an email request to Aeroplan, clarifying this very point - in terms of when the window of time for upgrading starts: 12:01 AM at the time zone of the caller, 12:01 at the time zone of the departing flight, or 12:01 at the time zone of the call centre. Here is the Aeroplan agent's answer:

    After verifying with Air Canada’s general reservation, we have been advised that usually, Customer Service Representatives will accommodate Upgrade requests according to the time zone from which the Passenger is calling rather than the zone from which the flight is originating. However, as mentioned in your email, if you speak with an agent in Air Canada’s St-John call centre, he or she may also consider, to your advantage, the time zone in New Brunswick as the one in effect, should you be calling from anywhere else in Canada. Should you require additional clarification, please contact Air Canada’s general reservation at 1-888-247-2262. We trust this information will be helpful and look forward to serving you again.

  • I've had luck even calling at 11:01pm EST, (just within the 4-day window) due to the fact that my call to AC reached the reservations office in Saint John, NB...an hour ahead of EST, and thus after midnight on local computers. Hit or miss though; you don't know where your call will be answered. As Empress says, 12am EST to be safe.

  • The upgrade window opens as soon as it's 4 days before the departure date (no need to be exactly 96 hours prior).

    So you can call at 12am EST when AC's computers change over to Friday.
