• I am planning to fly to Hawaii in December via YVR. Both Air Canada and Aloha Airlines offer non-stop services. Which airline is better (economy class) with respect to seat pitch, on-time reliability and overall service? Any recommendations?

  • Thanks for those infos! I just found out that Harmony Airways offer a non-stop service from YVR to Maui (OGG). Any recommendations regarding Harmony? I have never heard of them but they have some pretty good fares!

  • I have flown Aloha and I don't find their product to be 'outstanding'. I would MUCH rather take Air Canada - great service, entertainment and everything that you can expect from Economy. I flew in Business in August on the same route was pleasantly surprised.

  • I want to go to OGG first (stay there for 1 weeK), then to HNL for some days. Origin is YVR (I happen to be there beginning of December).

If you are going on a budget then go with Harmony. I have heard that they are a decent LCC, and have "Premium Economy" at good prices. Free food, entertainment, and extra leg-room.

Air Canada is perfect for those that are already in YVR, but it can be pricey at times. Not sure if they have matched Harmony on this route or what.

  • HQ and AC both offer n/s to OGG.

AC usually departs YVR around 19:00 and leaving OGG about 23:00 arriving YVR first thing in the morning.

These are approximate flight schedules from the HQ website:

    Vancouver (YVR) to Maui (OGG)

  • Which destination do you want? HNL or OGG? You say "via" YVR, but what's your origin?

In general, AC is not a good option for Hawaii, especially in economy. I shuttle between Hawaii and YYZ 10+ times a year. It's always painful, but particularly painful on AC.

  • AQ overnights in YVR. They quite often arrive late and because of crew rest leave late. This seems to happen about 50% of the time. I've seen delays of a few minutes to a few hours.

  • I have a friend who recently took Harmony with her family and it worked out very well. Harmony often has 2 for 1 deals or some such thing.
